R. Wayne Fernandes, age 82, beloved husband of Holly Fernandes, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 29, 2021. Wayne was born in Boston, MA and grew up in Taunton, MA as the oldest of 4 siblings.

Wayne served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 where he trained as an electrician. In 1970, he moved to Providence, RI where he lived on the East Side. He worked for The Providence Electric Company for many years before starting his own electrical business.

He was a fixture on the East Side of Providence and would often be found at one of the area restaurants, the service station and other local businesses on Hope St. Wayne was an incredibly special man who was loved by all who knew him- always with a great sense of humor, a smile and willing to help everyone no matter the size of the problem.

Wayne was a man of integrity. He dedicated his life to his family and work. He was selfless, honest, kind and had a genuine love of life and people. He is deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Wayne is predeceased by his mother, Katherine Wright and sisters Emma Almeida and Cynthia Oliviera. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Joanne Barros of Maryland. Wayne was a hero to many and will be especially missed by his family. He is survived by his wife Holly Fernandes, his children: R. Kurtis Fernandes, Melony Fernandes, Mark Duval and his wife Nancy, Wayne Fernandes and his wife Linda, Korie Sanchez and her husband Antonio, Brandon Fernandes, Kyle Fernandes and his long-time girlfriend, Alex. He was the loving grandfather "Papa" to 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is fondly remembered by several cousins, nieces and nephews and will always be "Uncle Wayne" to so many.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln, RI. Burial will be private.
